The homework set by myself is for the Year 4 maths group. Homework will be set every Monday and will normally be something which the children have been working on in class. This could be to consolidate their learning or to extend their learning.

SPAG homework will be set on Monday each week. It will always be something which the children have been learning in class in order for them to practise applying the new skills they have been taught.
The children have been given a spelling challenge card. Each child starts on a coloured card according to their spelling ability.
Your child needs to practice these spellings at home and at their own pace. These need to be ticked or highlighted once you are sure that your child can spell these confidently and accurately.
If you are unsure about how this challenge works or you would like more information, please ask.
Your child may also bring home spellings in their Homework Diary. These are words which they should be able to spell but keep getting wrong.
Every half term the children are given a Mission Possible homework booklet. This consists of a variety of activities which the children can do in any order.
This homework is set to encourage the children to continue to use skills at home which they are learning at school. We also remind them continuously about the quality of this work. It is important that the children understand that whatever work they do, whether at home or at school needs to be done to the highest quality. The children really enjoy Mission homework and they are always proud of the work they produce. We have had some fantastic pieces of homework so far this half term so thank you very much for your support with this.
Reading is at the heart of every thing we do. We are constantly encouraging the children to read both at school and at home as we want them all to develop a real love of reading.
In order to do this we often have reading challenges. At the moment we are using special tickets which the children can get on a daily basis. In order to get a ticket, the children have to come to school every day with their reading book and record. They also need to have read to an adult or older child and have their reading record signed to say that they have done this.
They can then get a ticket which they write their name on and put in the special box. Every Friday, a name is drawn out and they receive a prize of their choice from the prize box.
In year 3 and 4 we aim to listen to each child read at least once a week. We will also make sure that they have their reading book changed every Friday if they have their reading record signed.
Please remind your child that if they do finish their book at home, they can also read other things including other children's novels, magazines , newspapers and much more.
If you would like any other information, please ask.
