School Meals on School Grid
Our meals are provided by Hutchison Catering who are an independent family-run business delivering a refreshingly different range of catering services. The meals are all freshly cooked daily using local suppliers.
Eating a healthy diet enables a child to live life to the full and gives them a better performance all round, specifically helping with their concentration levels - which in turn affects achievement.
Children in Key Stage One (Reception, Years 1 and 2) are entitled to a free school meal. For Key Stage two pupils (Years 3, 4, 5 and 6) the price is £2.30 per child per day.
In our primary schools our meals;
- have a three-menu cycle, allowing children to become familiar with the food served;
- are changed every term to reflect the seasons; and
- are written in consultation with pupils and cooks.
We are now able to offer four choices per day - a meat-based meal, a vegetarian option, a jacket potato or a packed lunch option along with sides and a pudding/fresh fruit/yogurt. The meals are balanced and are excellent value for money.
Children may choose any of the above options on a daily basis.
To pre-order meals for your child/children, please access your School Grid account. Please discuss with your child what has been ordered so they aware of what they will be having at lunchtime. Payments for meals (£2.30 per meal, per child) should be paid in advance and can be made on School Grid either via card or direct debit.
Due to the current situation with social distancing, we are providing the meals on a 'take away' basis with staff delivering the meals to the children's classrooms, apart from Acorn and Pine classes who are continuing to use the dining hall.
