Vision and Values 2024-25

Our ethos and vision is...

for all members of the school community to work together to develop happy, confident and enthusiastic children who thrive in a stimulating and exciting environment – an environment where there is mutual respect so that each child develops a lifelong love of learning.

Aims

  • To deliver high quality teaching that enthuses, challenges and inspires all children.
  • To provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment where children feel happy and can achieve their full potential
  • To encourage independence and teach the children to be co-operative, respectful, caring and honest individuals who have questioning, enquiring minds and take responsibility for their own actions.
  • To encourage self expression, where children help to influence the direction of given aspects of the school.
  • To value the contribution of each and every member of the school community encouraging self-discipline and mutual respect.
  • To aspire to personal excellence and achievement for all.

Our Values

  • CHaS.
  • CHaS is our school mascot- Caring, Helping and Sharing and we encourage all our pupils to demonstrate these values in all that they do.

The following values also underpin our curriculum and our school community:

Ambition: We want our pupils to be ambitious and strive to be the best they can possibly be both academically and personally. We endeavour to ensure that they believe in themselves and realise that through working hard, they can achieve great things within school and beyond.

Bravery: We aim to instil a sense of bravery within our pupils and create an ethos where we are not afraid to make mistakes as long as we learn from them. Our pupils are taught to celebrate their individuality and to formulate their own opinions, expressing them maturely.

Respect: Our pupils are taught to be respectful citizens within school and wider communities. Showing compassion, understanding and tolerance towards others regardless of their age, gender, race, religion, ability or background.

  • Resilience  we want our children to feel confident to make mistakes and understand that this is how we learn. Problem solving is so important in life and all aspects of the curriculum and as adults we model this in the way that we teach.

  • Empathy By learning about empathy, our children understand that they’re not alone, they understand that other people are going through the same situation, feeling the same emotions, dealing with the same problems. They know they can help each other, support their families and actually have an impact. They increasingly understand that social action works.

  • Citizenship- We encourage pupils to take responsibility for their actions and to work collaboratively as part of our whole school community. Ultimately, we encourage our children to develop the life skills to become confident, caring citizens who can play a positive and active role in modern society.
